Web Fonts

In the early days of the web (which really wasn’t very long ago), our choice of fonts to use on web pages was very limited. In 1996, Microsoft created a core pack of fonts for use on the web, these included Andale Mono, Arial, Arial Black, Comic Sans MS, Courier New, Georgia, Impact, Times New Roman, Trebuchet MS, Verdana and Webdings. Over time, this list grew as more varied fonts were included with different operating systems. This list of ‘web safe’ fonts is still reasonably small, but now includes some very well respected fonts such as Helvetica, a hugely popular typeface with designers. Read more…
